It is for the children to write about leaving the pen after being sold to arriving at the stables. This goes through a writing process in the following format: Analysing Joey’s feelings in the first chapter Key vocabulary searching Reading and analysing example texts and high quality descriptive writing from other novels Planning the writing Drafting the first paragraph (Joey leaving the pen after being sold) with modelled writing Drafting the second paragraph (The journey to the stables) with modelled writing Drafting the third paragraph (Arriving at the stables) with modelled writing Big writing the final piece Each lesson also has a grammar focus beginning with identifying main clauses and subordinate clauses and then moving onto relative clauses in the second week.
